Indoor visits now allowed with residents at Ontario long-term care homes

By News staff

Indoor visits can resume Wednesday in Ontario’s long-term care homes; however, those visits come with conditions.

The Ford government made the announcement last week.

Only two people will be allowed to visit a resident at a time, and those visits can only take place at long-term care homes with no active COVID-19 cases.

Visitors will need to have a negative COVID-19 test within the last 14 days.

Essential caregivers will also be allowed back into the facilities when visits resume.

Previously, only one visitor per resident was allowed at a maximum of one visit per week, and only for an outdoor visit. As of July 15, two people at a time were able to visit a loved one at a long-term care home outdoors. However, they don’t need to get a COVID-19 test first.
